Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Nigeria Following Tragic Car Crash
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities stated on Wednesday evening. The fighter was caught in a vehicular crash in the Lagos area on December 29th, a tragic incident that took the lives of two of his team members.
Healing from Light Wounds
Joshua had been receiving medical attention while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on X that Joshua was declared medically stable to “recuperate at home”.
“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being made ready for the journey back,” Omotosho said.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The two men who died were named as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the athlete was heartbroken and full of emotions over the loss of his two dear friends.”
His release from the hospital comes as the global fight fans shared its support for the champion in the wake of the heartbreaking incident.
